Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween from the Madrens!
I promise I haven't forgotten about the blog. I have things to talk about; I'm just exhausted and have other things to do.

Kick
We just got home from our first baby shower with Seth's family. It was really lovely and I'll post more about our trip to North Carolina when I get pictures and have more time back in Bloomington.
In the meantime, I wanted to post that Seth finally felt the baby kick today! I'm so happy about that.
Also, I had a good time watching the baby thump my belly this morning in church.
He's getting so big and he is SO LOVED. :)

Ultrasound
We had our ultrasound to check on the status of my placenta today.
She put the little thing down near my cervix and didn't see my placenta at all, so she started zooming around. It had apparently moved so much she was surprised! It's way up where it needs to be, so all those positive placenta thoughts worked. In fact, she asked me if I had had a growth spurt, which judging by how hungry I was a couple weeks ago and the appearance of stretch marks, I'm going with yes. Yes, I did have a growth spurt. Which apparently really worked out for my placenta. So no more worries and I can continue with my natural birth plan with hopefully will NOT include a c-section.
And, bonus, we got a picture of our kid looking more like a baby and less like an alien.
He's getting so plump in there! So cute!

weird
I can see the bottom of my belly button. It's weird.
Also, I'm pretty sure I felt the baby move from the outside today. But Seth said he wasn't sure if he felt the baby move or if he was feeling his pulse. Either way, little dude's getting stronger in there.

Gigantic
So I signed up for this sock knitting class at a local yarn store. I've been wanting to take this class forever and I figured now was a good time to finally do it.
Last week was the first of two classes. It was just me, one other old lady, and the instructor. We got our socks going and whatnot and they asked me some questions about the pregnancy and whatnot. When I told them how far along I was, the other lady taking the class responded with, "Wow! You're gigantic!"
I just kind of laughed it off and said something about eating for two or something and just kind of shrugged it off as crazy old lady talk. Whatever.
Today I went for the second part of the class and the lady asked my due date and when I told her February 1st, she responded with "You just really look like you're due way before that."
So now I'm a little annoyed. I was already mad because I was hungry and I messed up my sock. But, seriously, WHO SAYS THAT? And not just a once, oops-I-stuck-my-foot-in-my-mouth kind of thing. Ugh.
And for the record, I'm pretty sure I look like someone who's 23 weeks pregnant. But even if I looked like I were 36 weeks pregnant instead, perhaps that's a comment best left to one's self.

Doctor
Our monthly doctor's visit was good this morning. Heartbeat is getting louder! I think I annoyed Dr. Labban by asking a lot of questions about pediatricians. He answered my questions, but he said, "You're asking a lot of questions about the baby! I just deliver them! Do you have any questions about YOU?"
But he did also say that even if my placenta hasn't moved by the ultrasound on Wednesday, I should be safe for driving to North Carolina on Friday. So, still hoping it will have moved away from my cervix, but even if it hasn't, we can still go home.
Also, I think my belly button is going to be an outie before the baby is (an outie, hahaha).
